Alfa Romeo’s Giulia Sprint GT Veloce won the Arese firm a legion of fans thanks to its engaging handling, exciting performance, and stunning Bertone looks courtesy of Giorgetto Giugiaro—and the recipe was only improved as the years rolled on. The most significant change to the model came in 1967—four years after the 105-Series coupé’s initial launch—with the arrival of the 1750 GTV.

A raft of improvements was made to the outgoing Giulia Sprint GT Veloce, most notably an increase in engine capacity from 1,570 cc to 1,779 cc, which helped to push total output from the twin-cam four-cylinder unit to 120 horsepower at a heady 5,550 rpm. The gearbox was subtly tweaked with a high-ratio final drive, making for much more comfortable motorway cruising, while the “step-nose” front end of the Giulia Sprint GT, GTC, GTA, and early GT 1300 Juniors was sacrificed alongside the addition of attractive quad-headlamps. Between 1967 and 1972 more than 40,000 examples were built—three times that of the outgoing model.

This 1969 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1750 GTV is finished in the rare and deeply appealing combination of Grigio Indaco over a complementary Rosso Amaranto Skai interior, as supplied from new by the factory. The car was built on 6 September 1969 before being delivered to and registered in Pescara, Italy on 19 September. An accompanying restoration book details a full rebuild which was carried out by Back to Basics Classics and completed in March 2017. The comprehensive 90-page photographic record details an in-depth body restoration, including the letting in of new metal where required and a complete respray in its factory-correct colour of Grigio Indaco. The full restoration book, which also includes several invoices for parts and labour, is available to view on file.

This smart Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV is beautifully restored and finished in a very desirable colour combination, as well as benefitting from several revisions that made this the second most popular 105-Series coupé second only to the entry-level 1300 GT Junior. It is often said that everyone should own an Alfa Romeo once in their life, and cars such as this beautifully finished 1750 GTV are the reason why.
