Known as the Fireblade in some countries, the CBR1000RR fully embodies its mythical name as Honda’s premier superbike, mesmerizing both professional and recreational riders with scorching performance.

First introduced in 1992 as the CBR900RR, owning to its 893-cubic-centimeter, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder, by 2004 the Fireblade had morphed into the CBR1000RR, with a 998-cubic-centimeter engine featuring dual-stage injection and a race-inspired cassette-type six-speed gearbox that could be quickly swapped without pulling the engine apart. The diecast aluminum frame was all-new, with an inverted fork and Honda’s competition-honed “Unit Pro-Link” rear suspension, which completely isolated the chassis from rear-wheel disruptions. At the front was the innovative Honda Electronic Steering Damper (HESD), an industry first that helped eliminate head shake while automatically adjusting steering effort based on speed.

Changes for the 2006–2007 model were incremental, designed to both increase engine performance and reduce weight. “It delivers polished, glitch-free 180-mph potency with almost no effort and yet blends this not just with the expected Honda build quality and class, but also a fat, humdinger, wheelie-pulling midrange that makes it more sheer fun than any since the ’92 original Honda Fireblade,” said Motorcycle News of the 2006–2007 model. Practically purpose-built for MotoGP, the CBR1000RR in competition form has clinched 43 wins and 145 podium finishes from 2004 through 2023.

Offered here is a storied competition version of the CBR1000RR campaigned by famed Isle of Man Tourist Trophy competitor Guy Martin for team Hydrex Honda throughout the 2007 British Superbike Championship season, as confirmed by a certificate of authenticity signed by the team’s chief engineer. Acquired by the Dare to Dream Collection in 2015, this Fireblade still wears its white racing livery with prominent Hydrex logos, sponsor decals, and #8 designations front and rear. Scrapes on the crankcase cover and well-worn Pirelli racing slicks testify to the extremes Martin went when leaning this storied superbike through turns at triple-digit speeds.

Undoubtedly a milestone in motorcycle history and with racing provenance from a noted rider, this CBR1000RR holds immeasurable value to the superbike and motorsport enthusiast.
