Depicted in this painting is legendary racing driver Juan Manuel Fangio’s greatest win. At the 1957 German Grand Prix, most teams set up their cars so they could complete the race without needing a pit stop. Fangio took advantage of this and did the opposite by having softer tires fitted to his Maserati 250F and the gas tank only filled half way. The strategy made the car much faster than his competitors, but he would still have to pit once during the race. After a disastrous pit stop, which set him back a few precious minutes, Fangio unbelievably regained his 1st place position and broke the Nürburgring lap record nine times in a 10-lap span. It has since gone down in history as one of the greatest racing wins ever, and it is one of the highlights of Juan Manuel Fangio’s glorious career.
