Model C-72. 340 bhp, 354 cu. in. Hemi OHV V-8 engine, two-speed PowerFlite automatic transmission, coil spring independent front suspension, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 126 in.

The Chrysler 300B introduced for 1956 was similar to the previous year’s inaugural 300. It did, however, benefit from a revised tailfin treatment, as well as a new motor rated at 340 brake horsepower, a significant boost over the previous year’s offering of 300 brake horsepower. This example has benefitted from a thorough body-off restoration, which is fully documented in an accompanying binder of photographs.

Finished in the original Cloud White with beige leather interior and black carpeting, 3N56552 shows only 611 miles on the odometer, presumably since restoration. The exterior is in excellent condition, with consistent paint, body contours, gaps, and brightwork. Owing to its low mileage, the tan interior shows minimal wear and excellent workmanship; the same goes for the fully restored dash with its black pad. The engine bay is finished in the correct colors and finishes with a silver block, gold valve covers, and all the correct restoration badges and decals that would have been found when the car was new.

The extent and quality of the restoration work is really shown off on the underside; there is absolutely no undercoating, and the chassis and suspension are finished in glossy black with body-colored floor pans. In keeping with the quality shown throughout, the trunk has been fully and accurately restored, including correct carpeting and a full spare. This 300B rides on standard steel wheels shod with whitewall tires and checkered-style full wheel covers. Other options include a Music Master AM radio, a heater, Solex glass, and the power group, which includes power steering, power brakes, a four-way power front seat, and power windows.

Chassis 3N56552 is also accompanied by an interpretation of the original build card from the Chrysler 300 Club, as well as a car cover and original manuals, including The Forward Look—Your 1956 Chrysler and Meet Your Chrysler 300B. It is ready to show off and is unabashedly one of the best examples available.
