  • The most iconic Jet Age car of the 1950s; A beautifully trimmed, excellent highway cruiser

345 hp, 390 cu. in. overhead-valve V-8 engine with three dual-barrel carburetors, three-speed Hydra-Matic transmission, independent front suspension with coil springs, live axle rear suspension, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 130 in.

In 1959, there was no American vehicle more outrageously styled and with a greater presence than the 1959 Cadillac. With tailfins and Jet Age styling all the rage across America and in design studios at the Big Three automakers, everyone wanted a car with more chrome trim, more flash, and more style. A car equipped with power steering, brakes, and windows, a two-way power seat, and GM’s first-rate Hydra-Matic transmission was American luxury at its finest.

This 1959 Cadillac Series 62 was equipped from the factory with E-Z-Eye tinted glass, a heater, and an electric six-way control seat, and it currently features a full restoration that has been well maintained and preserved in Mr. Pack’s care for the past 12 years. Its elegant black over red and white color scheme perfectly suits a car of this stature. The black paint contrasts wonderfully with the bright chrome trim, and the red leather interior helps to highlight the car’s iconic rocket-style taillights.

When Cadillac designers had invented the tail fin in 1948, it is difficult to say whether or not they predicted that it would become a styling icon of not only their automobiles but also of an entire decade. No other car was so emblematic of the Jet Age than the 1959 Cadillac, and it was destined to be an instant classic as soon as the first production example rolled off the assembly line. The 1959 Cadillac is an icon of American styling, and it goes without saying that every collection needs one.
