355 bhp, 350 cu. in. OHV V-8 engine, single four-barrel carburetor, four-speed automatic transmission, independent front suspension, rear leaf-spring suspension, and four-wheel power disc brakes. Wheelbase: 115 in.

The 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe presented here is a quintessential example of a custom car, as it is exceptionally well crafted and attractive in every way. It retains its identity as a 1956 Bel Air, yet it has the added flair of enhanced performance and looks.

As the car is powered by a 350-cubic inch Chevrolet ZZ4 engine with aluminum heads and a billet aluminum pulley system that is mated to a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and a nine-inch Ford posi-traction rear end, it certainly has the grunt to match its stunning looks. Other custom hardware includes a B-Cool aluminum radiator, rack and pinion power steering, four-wheel power-vented disc brakes, custom suspension, coated tube headers, and a full stainless exhaust with oversized mufflers.

Countless hours have been spent smoothing, sanding, and prepping every area of the bright red body, and the floor pans and chassis are equally detailed. Modifications include a flat recessed firewall, billet hood hinges with struts, one-piece smoothed California bumpers, shaved door handles, custom Packard-style tail lenses, and Budnik 17-inch billet wheels with BFGoodrich tires.

Possibly the most attractive part of this car is its custom interior. Tan and cream leather and suede materials cover the modern bucket seats, custom console, package tray, and door panels. The billet dash trim, digital gauges, Budnik steering wheel, air conditioning, Pioneer sound system, and much more help to complete the interior’s modern look and feel.

This Bel Air is a remarkable example of a custom Chevy. It has already proven its credibility on the show field, and it undoubtedly has many more award.
