The final version of the beloved “Big Healey” was the 3000 Mark III (BJ8), introduced in 1963 and built through 1967. With twin two-inch SU carburetors, the 2,912 cc six-cylinder engine provided acceleration from rest to 60 mph in 9.8 seconds, en route to top speeds exceeding 120 mph. Other improvements included a revised exhaust system, along with a standard vacuum brake booster. In addition, passengers were treated to a more luxurious cockpit with a handsome wood-faced dashboard and a floor console, as well as the roll-up side windows of the prior BJ7.

The example offered here, freshly restored by marque specialists Tom and Randee Rocke, of Healey Lane, is simply exceptional. Painted with a two-stage DuPont Chroma base in two separate applications, the car’s Healey Gold is outstanding. The new Fawn Beige amblia upholstery, directly sourced from Mathews and Son London, England Ltd., is complemented by matching English wool carpeting to complete this car’s striking color combination.

The engine, gearbox, and overdrive were completely rebuilt to factory-original specifications. New components include the fuel tank and lines, brakes, lines and cables, cloth wiring harness, electrical components, front suspension and springs, rear leaf springs, and steel exhaust system. New door mechanisms and handles, wood steering wheel, rebuilt original instruments, a walnut dash, chrome wire wheels, Roadspeed tires (185x70R15), a new convertible hood with storage bag, and new windshield, side windows, and rubber complete the highly detailed and comprehensive restoration. Expertly restored and accompanied at auction by photo-documentation of the work performed and a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, this Austin Healey epitomizes the superior work of Tom and Randee Rocke, and is offered with a one-year drive line warranty from Healey Lane.
