Over time, experience and worldwide demand dictated many changes in the sublimely beautiful Jaguar E-Type, culminating in 1968 with the introduction of the Series II, a substantial redesign that foreshadowed the final Series III V-12 that eventually debuted for 1971. Federal regulations in the USA, Jaguar’s most important export market, drove some of the Series II changes, including revised lighting and the shift to a pair of carburetors in place of the earlier triple-carb arrangement. Externally, the radiator air intake increased substantially in size, and larger, full-width bumpers provided compliance with U.S. low-speed impact requirements.

The well-proven 4.2-liter inline six-cylinder was little changed, although a higher-capacity water pump helped the E-Type adapt better to warmer climates. Braking was improved as well, with larger Girling disc brakes utilizing three-piston calipers at the front and two-piston units at the rear. Inside, reclining seats with adjustable headrests were now standard. The Series II revisions marked the maturation of the landmark E-Type and made a great car even better.

With just two owners and approximately 53,000 miles from new, this 1969 Series II Fixed-Head Coupe clearly benefits from careful maintenance throughout its life. Classic Showcase recently restored the car, including the bodywork and panel fitting, in preparation for a complete refinish in the original Willow Green, followed by color sanding and buffing. The interior was reupholstered in Biscuit leather, including the seats, a new console and new door panels, along with a new headliner and new carpeting. New rubber, seals and hardware were installed as required, and the car’s brightwork has been re-plated. With recent service work including a tune-up and oil change, as well as interior and exterior detailing, this honest low-mileage E-Type is road-ready and includes classic chrome wire wheels and factory-fitted air conditioning. The car is complete with extensive history and service receipts dating back to its first owner.
