The Type 101 Giulietta Spider appeared in 1959 with a slightly elongated wheelbase; the extra 5 cm improved styling and made use of the doors more practical. From 1962 onward, the 101 was equipped with an engine of almost 1,600 cc and was referred to as the Giulia. The new engine, with its larger bore, was more flexible, and the five-speed gearbox made the Giulia more comfortable on the motorway. Instantly recognised by its thin air intake on the hood, the 1600, as well as the smaller 1300, were adored by racing specialists who could tease out higher performance almost on demand. Among legendary racing versions were the SVZ, SZ, TZ and others.

The car offered here is a Type 101.23 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider, chassis number AR379248 and is offered with its rare hard top. This car was prepared by its previous owner for historic racing and rallying, at a cost of €45,000. The mechanics were sorted by Toulouse specialist Dougnac. It is further equipped with a locking bridge, extra-large fuel tank and an extra cooling fan. The suspension was also modified with lower, stiffer springs and Spax dampers, and the glass side windows were replaced with polycarbonate. Furthermore, it is equipped with a roll cage, bucket seats with Corbo harnesses, a racing pedal, a Retrotrip trip-master, as well as the necessary fire extinguisher and cut-off switch. With excellent preparation and presentation, this Type 101 Guilia Spider will make an excellent racing or rally machine for any European classic event.
