The Fiat Jolly was a special edition of the 500 and 600, designed and built by Ghia in the late ‘50s and ‘60s. With a light surrey top, wicker seats and cutaways replacing doors, it was robbed of most of its utilitarianism and as such, became the perfect beach car. Powerful enough to be driven on real roads yet light enough to be driven on a golf course or onto a yacht, resorts and wealthy vacationers bought them in droves.

Approximately 15 years ago, Giovanni Vernagallo’s Carrozzeria Holiday began converting vintage Fiat 500s into the “Mare”, a beach car built in the tradition of the Jolly–excluding the wicker seats. Great fun, and ideal for the sunny coasts of Italy, these cars were sold exclusively to resorts and a short list of VIP clients. Today, the Carrozzeria Holiday continues to make “Mare” versions of vintage and contemporary Fiat cars. This 1969 Fiat 500 Mare built by Carrozzeria Holiday has recently completed its restoration. It is in excellent condition, finished in blue with a two tone white and blue interior. Simply put, this little beach car is pure joy!
