Series 80. 130 bhp, 320.2 cu. in. OHV inline eight-cylinder engine, three-speed manual transmission, independent front and semi-floating rear suspension with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic brakes. Wheelbase: 131 in.

According to Brewster Society records, Brewster body number 9062 was originally ordered for a 1935 Ford chassis and was to be delivered to Charles Merrill Chapin, a member of one of the founding families of Merrill Lynch, for his wife, Esther, a prominent socialite and direct descendant of Martha Washington. Mrs. Chapin, a dignified East Coast lady, felt that the Brewster’s trademark heart-shaped grille was obnoxious, and she eventually had the body modified lightly and moved to what she considered a more appropriate chassis, a 1937 Buick.

Mrs. Chapin reportedly used her Brewster for decades to attend social events in the Manhattan area. It was sold by her family in the early 1970s to prominent collector James Tushinsky, who later passed it to Russ Jackson, and it remained part of Mr. Jackson’s collection until his passing in 1993. During his ownership, the car was given CCCA Full Classic status, by virtue of its custom bodywork, and was pictured in Beverly Rae Kimes’s The Classic Car in 1990.

The car was sold by the Jackson Estate to Rich Ritchie, of Ritchie Buick in California, and it was displayed in the Preservation class at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in 2008. Today, it remains extremely original, having been repainted its original burgundy color, and it has excellent panel fit, chrome, and windows and a strong interior with mahogany trim, which is in fine condition. This car is still fitted with its original intercom and luggage trunk and is reported to have been freshly serviced, making it ideal for continued participation in CCCA activities.
