  • Offered from the collection of Jeffrey Day
  • Excellent original condition
  • Believed to have 10,000 actual miles

90 bhp L-head inline six-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission. Wheelbase: 144.5 in.

This Mack EFX, with what is believed to be only 10,000 actual miles recorded, is a completely original and unrestored truck. Its red paint has a wonderful patina, and the chassis is in fine condition, other than the dirt, which is expected on a truck that has been used occasionally for its original purpose. The interior is upholstered in the original brown vinyl, which is still in excellent condition and is pretty remarkable, as it shows just how well the Mack has been looked after over the years. The original Anthony lift bed body, designed to accommodate a 2½-ton payload, was installed in New Jersey by Frank Black, and it still functions very well.

The truck is accompanied by a copy of its original order sheet, which documents its early history, and a letter to its original owner, Richard E. Saffin, of 50 Anderson Street, Paterson, New Jersey. There is also a note on the order sheet that states it was ordered as a “utility truck for estate.” Mr. Saffin was a prominent New Jersey landowner and well-known collector of vintage banknotes. His Mack was finished in red and featured a Deluxe Coupe-style cab, a heater/defroster, and dual windshield wipers.

This handsome old Mack truck, finished in Jeffrey Day’s “Flat Acre Farms” livery, is the full-size embodiment of the toys enjoyed by young boys all over the country. Who hasn’t dreamed of owning their own big truck?
