• Desirable Series I with the 4.2-liter engine

• Matching numbers

The E-Type Series I 4.2-Liter is one of the most collectable of all the E-Types. It not only features the covered headlights, toggle switches and interior design ahead of its time but also the more powerful 4.2-liter engine.

This Series I has always been treated as a collector car by its owner, kept in a garage and used for weekend enjoyment rather than regular transportation. This beautiful E-type has had the same owner for over 30 years, who was very meticulous about maintenance, and during its restoration everything was refurbished and detailed to high standards.

During this recent restoration, the E-Type was completely disassembled, stripped to bare metal and painted silver. British car specialists performed all of the work, with exceptional attention paid to the details. It received all new rubber and chrome plating as necessary. The interior was refurbished when the car was painted and includes new leather, panels, carpets, trunk mat and all-new interior trim materials. The top was replaced with a new cloth top and a boot and was professionally fitted. When the car was painted, all of the major mechanical components were removed and rebuilt or replaced as necessary.

The original matching-numbers engine was completely rebuilt to allow acceptance of unleaded fuel and to improve reliability. The original transmission was rebuilt and refitted to the car. The complete suspension was disassembled, rebuilt, detailed and reassembled. The brake system was rebuilt, or replaced as needed, and detailed. A complete new wiring harness was installed for reliability. The exhaust manifolds were restored with new porcelain coating and a new stainless steel exhaust system installed. New Dunlop 185/15 tires were mounted on the new chrome wire wheels. More recently, Jaguar specialists Classic Showcase performed a service and detailing. Receipts and photos that document the restoration will accompany the vehicle as well.
