Type 996. 450 bhp, 3,600 cc DOHC horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine with twin turbochargers, six-speed manual transmission, front and rear independent suspension, and four-wheel carbon-ceramic disc brakes. Wheelbase: 92.5 in.

The Porsche Type 996 was the first new 911 that was completely redesigned – only the front and rear suspension and six-speed gearbox were retained, though revised. Available first as a coupe or a cabriolet, the model was so loved that it needed only a few upgrades throughout the years. The Turbo was introduced in 2000, increasing power output to 415 brake horsepower, with a 0–60 sprint over in just 4.2 seconds. As the factory began to wind down this beloved model, it offered the end-all-be-all of the series: the Turbo S.

Technically, the Turbo S remained similar to the Turbo, but instead was outfitted with the X50 performance option, bumping horsepower up to 450 brake horsepower, as well as fitting Porsche’s carbon-ceramic brakes as standard and including a CD changer and aluminum-faced instruments. Larger turbochargers and improved intercoolers helped to raise torque to 457 foot pounds. Top speed was rated at 190 mph. Coupe and Cabriolet models were offered, and about 980 examples were produced; of those, just 300 were convertible.

Offered here is one such rare example, finished in the classic color combination of black exterior on black leather. Provided with the car are all of the original manuals, along with a CARFAX dated 2008 recording it as a one-owner vehicle with no accidents.

Originally delivered new to Hohen Porsche of Carlsbad, California, this Turbo S Cabriolet was exported to Switzerland in 2008, where it has been with its current owner for nearly a decade. More recently, it has been serviced by Porsche Centre Lausanne in Switzerland, and it is now ready to be driven and enjoyed.
