The SC marked Porsche’s highest evolution of the 356 Series prior to embarking on the next major accomplishment, the 911. Most Porsche enthusiasts agree that there truly is no better driving 356 than an SC model. They are superbly balanced, proportioned and powered and are perpetually sought after by enthusiasts.

The SC Cabriolet presented here was sold new in California and has remained there its entire life. It is a very late example built in 1965, the final year for 356 production, and its engine and transmission numbers match those on the accompanying Certificate of Authenticity. Factory options included the high-horsepower “SC” engine, a special order black leather interior and chrome wheels. A large file of receipts outlines not only the service work performed since the 1970s but also charts the former owner’s names and whereabouts.

Just a few years ago, a full nut-and-bolt restoration was commenced that included work by highly respected marque specialists in Southern California. The champagne yellow paintwork was entrusted to Watkins Paint and Body, Christensen Plating Works prepared the show-quality chrome and plating, and Autos International expertly installed a black leather interior and a new black canvas top. No expense was spared and all parts were either OEM or NOS. The engine and transmission were completely rebuilt before the 356 was reassembled and sorted by European Collectibles.

This beautifully restored SC Cabriolet is complete with an original set of keys, owner’s manuals, receipts for the recent restoration, service records dating back to the 1970s, a toolkit and a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche.
