1963 Autobianchi Bianchina Mare
- Chassis no. 004637
Sold for €16.800
The Autobianchi Bianchina, although diminutive, was bursting with an abundance of sporting character. It offered sturdy and widely available Fiat 500 mechanical components with luxurious levels of trim for the era. First offered as a “transformable”, and later a cabriolet throughout its 12 year production run from 1957 to 1969, it was an unqualified success.
The Autobianchi presented here is a truly special Bianchina. Following the tradition of the Ghia designed and fabricated Fiat 500 beach cars, this Bianchina has received a similar treatment, with cut down doors, chrome trim bars and is finished in ‘Rosa Salmone’ with a white interior. The restoration was completed in 2008 in Tuscany Italy, at which time the engine was rebuilt, all the mechanicals overhauled and the car was repainted.
It is believed that only four Jolly variants of the Bianchina were ever produced, although, at present, it is unknown whether the car offered here is definitively one of them. That said, the car was sold new 21 June 1963 in the coastal region of Liguria, in Italy, where Jollys were commonly used as beach and estate cars, golf carts and even yacht tenders.
