190 bhp, 3,442 cc DOHC six-cylinder engine, two SU carburetors, four-speed manual gearbox, independent front suspension with coil springs, double wishbones and anti-roll bar, rigid rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 102"

- From the Bill Jacobs Collection

- Matching-numbers RHD Drophead Coupe with 42,500 miles

- One family car from 1955-2001, fully documented restoration

The Jaguar XK140 was introduced in 1954 with a number of improvements. The Fixed Head Coupe and Drophead Coupe both had occasional jump seats, thanks to the engine being moved forward three inches. The cowl was raised two inches, as was the steering wheel, which increased comfort and headroom inside. Outside, the XK140 received heavier bumpers, connected to the chassis this time; a bolder cast aluminum grille with fewer bars, which improved cooling; and optional twin fog-lights. Mechanically, the XK140 replaced the Burman steering with a more-accurate rack-and-pinion system, and roll bars were increased in diameter for firmer cornering.

This XK140 Drophead was sold new to Leo Holzer of Scarsdale, New York by Blanchard Motors of Greenwich, Connecticut in Fall of 1955. On Leo’s death, it passed to his son Ed Holzer, who had a fully-documented restoration done by JK Restorations of Oswego, Illinois from 1999 to 2001. The next owner was Michael Ksiazek of Burr Ridge, Illinois in 2007, before it was acquired by Bill Jacobs.

This car was restored in its original black paint with red leather interior and with a tan canvas top. The paint is superb, the body panels fit well, and the doors shut very nicely. The interior wood is excellent, and a push-button radio is fitted. The engine bay is clean and correct. The car carries chrome wire wheels and twin Lucas spotlights, and it is fitted with brand-new tires. A C-Type head adds additional power, while the history file is complete with the original operating, maintenance and service handbooks as well as the original keys, ID plate and a host of restoration receipts. The car presents superbly and is a proven tour performer, having successfully competed in the Colorado Grand in 2009, driven by Mr. Jacobs.
